Biography

Ana Petrović examines the visual elasticity of different kinds of media. She was born in 1985 in Bjelovar, Croatia. She graduated in 2011 from the Art Academy in Osijek, where she is currently a senior teaching assistant in the courses Multimedia and Intermedia, and Photography.

Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions and solo shows across Europe. She has delivered several lectures about the wide spectrum of her artistic practice in Italy, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, and Croatia. Her works have been awarded twice in Croatia, by the Rovinj Heritage Museum (2016) and the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek (2021). She has exhibited at the prestigious European Media Art Festival in Osnabrück, Germany (2009), and her work is included in the art collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Osijek.

She has participated in workshops in Hungary, Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Croatia, ranging from one to two weeks in duration. She completed an art residency in Graz, Austria, organized by Kulturvermittlung Steiermark, Internationales Haus der Autorinnen und Autoren Graz.

Her works have been published in numerous catalogues, news articles, and art books, featuring texts by some of Croatia’s most prominent art theorists and curators, such as Branko Franceschi, Boris Greiner, Branka Benčić, Blaženka Perica, and Krešimir Purgar.

She is the co-founder of the art organization POPUP, active from 2012 to 2019, dedicated to expanding awareness of contemporary art in alternative exhibition venues.

She lives and works in Osijek, Croatia.
